Tiruvanmiyur is a prominent area located in Chennai city in South India. A popular temple called Marundeeswarar temple is located here. Around 1.5 kms from that great temple, the Samadhi of Sri Pamban Swamigal is located.

Pamban Swamigal was a Siddha, saint and poet who lived in the 19th century CE. He was born in Pamban near Rameswaram. He was a great devotee of Lord Murugan. He wrote the famous Shanmukha Kavacham on Lord Murugan. In his last days, he lived in Chennai. His Samadhi (the holy graveyard) is located in Tiruvanmiyur.

Pamban Swamigal Samadhi is one of few places in Chennai which can be considered as ideal for meditation. It is located in a serene and peaceful locality. The entire complex is surrounded by a lot of trees and plants.

A Shiva Linga idol is installed on the Samadhi of Swamiji. There is a big meditation hall, where a very big photograph of Swamiji is placed. There is another small meditation center in the natural atmoshere with the beach sand as the flooring. There is a shrine of Mayuranathar (the movable metal idol of Murugan).

Hundreds of devotees visit the temple for performing meditation daily. It is indeed a unique and interesting place in Chennai.

Happy travelling.
