Introduction Madampakkam is situated at a distance of 8 km from Tambaram, the southern suburb of Chennai city. A magnificent temple of Lord Shiva (called Dhenupureeswarar ) is located at the center of the village. The ancient temple, built during the Chola period, has architectural contributions from the Pandyas and the Vijayanagara Kings too. Legend There is an interesting legend about this site. As you might know already, it is not always possible to find the source of such legends or traditional beliefs. The saint named Kapila was a devotee of Lord Shiva.
