West Bengal's Gaudiya Math in Chennai

Gaudiya Math (also spelled Gaudiya Mutt) was founded in 1918 in Mayapur, West Bengal, with the aim of spreading the teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the great devotee of Lord Krishna. Over time, numerous branches of Gaudiya Math were established across India.

One such branch is located in Royapettah, Chennai. Like other Gaudiya Mutts, this center also features a small temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. The deity, carved from black marble, is exceptionally beautiful, depicted holding a flute and standing alongside Radha. The same shrine also houses an icon of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. In addition to the temple, there is a spacious prayer hall adorned with various images and photographs of Chaitanya and Krishna.

Established in 1932, the Gaudiya Mutt in Chennai is one of the city's older spiritual institutions. If you get the opportunity, a visit to this serene place is highly recommended.

Happy travelling.
