Nandala Temple - Chennai

Mylapore area in Chennai represents the old tradition. The famous temple of Kapaleeswarar and a lot of rare and ancient temples are located in Mylapore area. Nandalala temple is a new entrant in Mylapore.

Nandalala is another name of Lord Krishna. Nandalala temple, located at Dr. Ranga Road near Mylapore MRTS station, is a private temple. This well maintained temple, built few years ago, is becoming popular due to Navaratri Kolu functions and various other religious functions.

The presiding deity of the temple Nandalala's beautiful black colored idol is made of touchstone, the stone used to test the quality of gold. The idol is extremely beautiful and Krishna is found with a flute in his hands and a cow standing behind him.

The temple also has an attractive idol of Ganesha. There is a shrine where Krishna is found along with his two consorts - Rukmini and Bhama. Ram-Lakshman-Sita-Hanuman are found in the form of utsav idols (bronze idols) in this temple.

The temple is very peaceful and neatly maintained.

When you go to Myalpore, ensure that you visit this new temple along with the other ancient temples in the area.
