A good place to meditate - Ramakrishna Mutt, Chennai

Ramakrishna Mutt, located at RK Mutt Road in the Mylapore area of Chennai, is one of the best places for meditation, thanks to its serene atmosphere.

The mutt had a small meditation hall for many years. Around 15 years ago (I wrote this article in 2009 CE), the vast structure named "Universal Temple" was built within the mutt premises.

At the center of the shrine, the big murti of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa is enshrined. The temple also houses Sri Sharda Devi (wife of guru Ramakrishna) and Swami Vivekananda in separate sub-shrines. The beautiful structure was built in the combination of South Indian and Bengal architectural style.

There are a library and bookstall found on the premises. The beautiful garden of the temple is suitable for an evening walk or an early morning walk.

Temple timing: 4.30am-11.45.am; 3.00pm to 9.00 pm.

Happy travelling.
