Bhagandeshwara Temple, Bhagmandala, Coorg

As I mentioned in my previous blog post on Bhagmandala Triveni Sangam, Bhagmandala town is located at a distance of about 33 kms from the Madikeri city.

The most famous Bhagandeshwara temple is located very near to the Triveni Sangam in Bhagmandala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it also houses shrines for Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesh and Lord Subramanya. The architecture of the temple is of Kerala style.

As per the legend, Bhaganda Maharishi installed Shivlinga (the main deity of this temple) and hence Shivlinga is called as Bhagandeshwara. The city is hence named as Bhagmandala.

When you go to Coorg, do visit to this calm and beautiful Kerala style Bhagandeshwara temple and get the blessing of Lord Shiva. Let me post more articles on Coorg. Till then...

Happy Travelling.

If you are planning to travel to Coorg, you can buy the book named "Explore Coorg - the Scotland of India" here. The travel guide is very informative and consistently getting good reviews and ratings from the readers.
