Shadulia Palace
It is a small but beautiful building. The veranda on the ground floor has five beautiful arches supported by six pillars. The middle one is a circular arch, and the other four arches are made of multiple mini-cusped arches. The balcony on the first floor has a similar design with variations in the arch formats. There are miniature domes found in the corners of the terrace.
The elegant structure, called Shadulia Palace, built with Indo-Saracenic style's essential elements, is neglected and forgotten today. It is located near the erstwhile Broadway Cinema Talkies in Broadway (Prakasam Salai) in the George Town locality of Chennai.
The small inscription on the facade clearly provides the required details about the structure. It was a waqf property built to meet the expenses of the annual Kandoori festival at Javia Madarasa. The Madarasa belonged to Abdul Hassan Ali Shadulia Nayagam. It was constructed by Periya Thambi Maraikkayar on 23rd October 1917 CE.
It appears a Jewish jewelry store was functioning from this building. However, now it is a deserted building.
