Madhavaram Botanical Garden

North Chennai has so many exciting places. But people ignore them. Now, the region has got such a great tourist spot that no one from Greater Chennai would ever want to miss.

Yes! I am talking about the biggest botanical garden of Greater Chennai. It is such a lovely site and incomparably beautiful.

Not many of Chennaites would have visited Madhavaram. And, not many of the residents of Madhavaram would love to live anywhere else in Chennai. Only those who have been living in Madhavaram would acknowledge what I have written above. Surrounded by thick forests and mango groves, Madhavaram is a unique and compelling destination in the city. And now, that fantastic destination has got an impressive spot. It's a kind of double dhamaka!

Established by the State Horticulture Department in 2018 CE, this botanical garden is sprawling around 20 acres of land.

The park has separate sections for fruits, medicinal plants, ornamental plants and indoor plants. There are about 400 varieties of plants.

There is a gorgeous lake. Coracles (small round boats) are there for a joy ride. Besides, there is a lovely lily pond.

The children's play area is another attraction. With colorful flowers and dense greenery, it is like heaven in the city with a humid climate.

There are plans to add more attractions such as an open-air theatre and glasshouse.

Happy travelling.
