Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

The gigantic 25 feet blue rooster in the heart of Minneapolis city would make any new visitor stop for a moment to wonder and immediately enter the Sculpture Garden.

Started in 1988, the Sculpture Garden is the widely visited site in Minneapolis, Minnesota state of the USA. Hundreds of people see this site every day and get amazed by the collection of modern and contemporary art in an urban park setting.



This 11 acres park was designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes and the landscape architects, Quinnel and Rothschild. Throughout the Sculpture Garden, hundreds of trees and plants are found, creating the natural frame for the art.



Apart from the giant rooster, the giant spoon with cherry and two reclining figures of Mark Manders are also widely photographed and famous sculptures in this garden.



There are 43 sculptures or artworks in the Sculpture Garden. Four more artworks are found in the Walker Terraces, and the remaining ten artworks are found in the Wurtele Upper Garden.

  • Hephaestus - the 12 feet tall Greek God of fire made of metal
  • The bronze reclining woman 
  • Rapture - a woman emerges from a wolf
  • Walking Man
  • Without Words
  • Arikidea - the gigantic steel beams; even a little breeze makes the elements sway
  • Kris Martin - the large bell that was brought from a German Church
  • Barry Flanagan - Hare on the giant bell
  • Tempietto (small circular temple) of Saint Laurence
  • The horse made of wooden sticks
