Dinosaur Skeleton and egg
Indian Museum has sections with thirty five galleries of various arts and artifacts. Similar to any other museums, this museum also has a lot of paintings, photographs, few bronze idols, few sculptures, skeleton of animals and birds, fossils, stamps of various countries, old coins from different countries and old kingdoms, armours, etc. However, what makes this museum as the unique one is some of the rare exhibits in this museum which cannot be found anywhere else.

The Egyptian section of the museum has mummy which is around 4000 years old. It is something which you cannot find in any other museum in India. Another highlight of the museum is the section containing the skeletons of many pre-historic animals such as mammoths and dinosaurs.

The Buddhist Stupa of Bharhut is another highlight of the museum. Bharhut is a location in Madhya Pradesh state in India. It is believed that Ashoka would have built this stupa in 3rd century BC. It is also believed that some additions would have been done by Sungas. The artistically beautiful stupas was dismantled and realigned in Kolkata museum.

Although this is an "Indian" museum, the architecture of the building is "Italian". The architecture is beautiful and it is also worth watching.

An elegant museum with a lot of rare artifacts. Don't miss this!

Happy travelling.
