Shri Varasidhi Vinayaka temple located in Kumbasi village in Kundapur Taluk near Udupi is one of the most important Ganesha temples in India.

The big temple is built in Kerala type temple architecture. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has large idol of Ganesha found with four arms. The temple is believed to have been originally built by Parasurama. It is considered as one of seven important pilgrimage sites in Parasurama Kshetra region. Aane means elephant and Gudde means hillock. As it is abode of the elephant faced God, it is called as Anegudde.

As per the legend, when drought hit this area, the sage Agastya performed yagna. The demon Kumbhasura disturbed the yagna. Upon getting the blessing and sword from Lord Ganesha, Bheem of Pandavas killed the demon and facilitated the yagna.

The temple has two prakaras. The inner prakara has a lot of stucco images depicting various scenes related to Lord Ganesha. The outer prakara has a mandap where Satya Narayan pooja is performed regularly.

Meal is served everyday to thousands of the devotees in this temple. It is similar to the other important temples of this region.
