Aluva Shiva Temple - Kerala

Aluva is a small town located on the banks of the river Periyar, around 20 km from Cochin (Koci), in Kerala state, India.

Aluva has a famous Shiva temple, considered one of Kerala state's most important pilgrim centers. There is no bridge, and one has to cross the river by boat to reach the temple. The temple's specialty is that the temple's Shiv Linga is installed right on the river banks. The temple is tiny, and the icon is also too small. However, the temple is very popular in Kerala mainly due to the annual festival of Shivaratri that is celebrated in a grand manner on the banks of Periyar river in Aluva.
