Rishikesh is a religious town located near Haridwar on the banks of the beautiful Ganges river in Uttarakhand state of India. The town is an ancient city and has so many travel attractions such as rafting, hiking, heritage tour, temples, river, etc. Let us explore a rare temple dedicated to Dhruv Rishi in this article.

Dhruva was the son of a King named Uttanapada. When he was just five years old, he was trying to sit on the lap of his father. His step mother forcefully removed him from his father's lap and betrayed him that only God could allow him to sit there again. Determined to meet the God, the little boy went into the deep forest. Narad Rishi taught him the holy mantra. The boy recited the mantra vigorously and got the darshan of Lord Vishnu.

The not-so-old but claimed to be ancient temple located near Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh claims that Dhruva performed his penance in this site. This temple is not artistically beautiful but is definitely rare. Apart from the idol of Dhruva, the idols of Lakshmi, Saraswati, Durga, Vishnu, Badri, Narad and few other modern day stucco idols are found in this temple.

Happy travelling.
