It is located on the Himalayas in Uttarakhand state of India. Near Kedarnath, around 40 kms from Sonprayag, a small village called Ukhimath is situated. Let us explore about this site in this article.

Ukhimath is an important pilgrimage located on the Himalayas. It is located at a distance of around 40 kms from Rudraprayag. It is situated at an elevation of around 1320 meters. It is surrounded by beautiful snow capped peaks of Himalayas. During the extreme winter season, the idol from Kedarnath temple would be brought down here and worshiped in Ukhimath Omkareshwar temple.

As per the legend, the grand son of Lord Krishna was Anirudh. He got married to Usha, the daughter of Banasura in this site. The site was named as Ushamath after her, which was changed into Ukhimath later.
