Besant Nagar is a prominent area located in Chennai city in South India. It is popular for Eliots beach located there. There is a popular temple named Ashta Lakshmi temple situated in this area. Around 1 km from that popular temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located. Let us explore about this temple in this article.

The temple is small and was built in the 1970s. It has a small tower. The presiding deity is Shiva Linga called as Ratnagireeswarar. It is said that the deity was found in the seashore of Tiruvanmiyur, a nearby locality.

The Goddess is found in a separate shrine and she is named as Aralakesi.

The sub-shrines of Maha Ganapati, Ratna Subramanya, Nalvar, Nataraj, Kotanda Ram, Anjaneya, Chandikeshwara and Navagraha are also found in this temple.

Ganesha, Dakshinamurti, Vishnu, Brahma and Durga are found as Koshta idols.
