Bangalore, officially known as Bengaluru, is the capital city of Karnataka state of India. It is called as the 'Silicon Valley of India' as all IT majors have presence in the city. Bangalore is known for its pleasant climate has a lot of tourist attractions which include parks, gardens, temples, etc. The Bull temple, which is located at Basavanagudi area is the most important and popular temple of the city. Dodda Basavana Gudi, which is popular called as the Bull temple, is dedicated to Nandi. Nandi is the mount (vahan) of Lord Shiva. It is arguably the biggest temple of Nandi in the entire world. Not only the devotees, but even the tourists who come to Bangalore regularly visit this temple. 

The temple was built in 1537 CE by Kempe Gowda under the Vijyanagara rule. It should be noted that he was the founder of Bangalore. 

The temple is small and has only the main shrine. The architecture of the temple is of typical Vijayanagara style. The main shrine enshrines the big monolith idol of Nandi. It is about 20 feet high.

The Raja gopuram (tower) of the temple is a later addition.

The Bugle Rock garden behind the temple is also a popular tourist site. 

The corridor outside the temple has a huge 20 feet high pillar which is adorned with a lot of bas relief images.
