Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum is an important monument in New Delhi, the capital city of India. It was the residence Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India.

The museum is an important memorial, as it is where Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own bodyguards in 1984 AD. It was later converted into a museum. The memorial preserves many of her personal belongings and books. Even the sari she was wearing when she was shot dead is displayed in the museum.

Some rare family photographs of the former PM, some of her childhood photos and photos related to national movement and Indian politics are also found in the memorial. It also houses the burnt clothes of Rajeev Gandhi, her son and former PM of India, which were worn by him when he was assassinated.
The garden outside the museum has the spot where she was actually assassinated and fell down. The enclosed glass frame on the ground has dried blood spots.

To pay an emotional tribute to the late leader, visit this site.

Happy travelling.
