Murugan Temple - Ernakulam, Kerala, India

Ernakulam is the commercial capital city of Kerala state, India. Ernakulam and Cochin (aka Kochi) are called as twin cities.

Ernakulam has a famous Shiva temple named Ernakulathappan temple. Apart from that, there is a big temple dedicated to Lord Muruga (Subramanya, the son of Lord Shiva). Ganesha, Shasta (Ayyappa), Guruvayurappan, Shiva, and Bhagavathi are the common Gods of Kerala state. It is very rare to find a temple for Lord Muruga, who is commonly worshipped in Tamil Nadu state. This temple of Lord Muruga indeed was built and maintained by Tamil community living in Ernakulam city.

The main shrine houses Lord Muruga with his consorts Valli and Devayani on either sides. The temple also houses the idols of Ganesha, Dakshinamurti, Vishnu, Brahma, Durga, and Chandikeswara. There is a separate shrine for Navagraha.

Happy Travelling.
