Aluva Shiva Temple - Kerala, India

Aluva is a small town located on the banks of the river Periyar, at a distance of around 20 kms from Cochin (Koci), in Kerala state, India.

Aluva has a famous Shiva temple, which is considered as one of the most important pilgrim centers of Kerala state. You need to cross the river through boat to reach the temple. The speciality of the temple is that the idol of the temple Shiv Linga is installed right on the river banks. The temple is very small and the idol is also too small. However, the temple is very popular in Kerala mainly due to the annual festival of Shivaratri that is celebrated in a grand manner on the banks of Periyar river in Aluva.

Happy travelling.
