Padi is an area in the central part of Chennai city in Tamil Nadu state of India. This place has a very prominent temple called Tiruvalleeswarar Temple. Near that temple, a small village temple for Pidari Amman Temple is located. Let us discuss about this temple in this article.

Pidari Amman Temple is a little known village temple located hardly 50 meters from the famous Tiruvalidayam a.k.a. Tiruvalleeswarar temple in Padi.

The temple is very small with just one shrine. Looking at the architecture of the Vimana of this temple, it appears to be of Chola period. There is a high possibility that this temple must have been part of Tiruvalleeswarar temple originally.

The temple enshrines Pidari Amman. The other village deities that are found in the temple include Sapta Matas and Annamars. The names of these seven brothers who are worshiped as village deities are Krithivandhan, Sudheshnan, Mitrasenan, Ruchu, Samantan, Pathrakkan and Shankarshanan. Interestingly, it is very rare to find the idol of Annanmars in Chennai based temple.

Happy travelling.
