Kodaikanal is one of the most popular summer destinations of India. Thousands and thousands of travelers visit this popular hillstation named as 'Princess of hillstations'. It is located near Dindigul in Tamil Nadu state of India. After Ooty, it is the most visited hill resorts in Tamil Nadu state.

Unlike the other hillstations where only viewpoints are present, this extraordinary hill resort has a lot of place of interest for tourists such as viewpoints, waterfalls, forests, trekking routes, temples and heritage spots. Let us explore one of the most important tourist attractions of Kodaikanal, Pine Forest.

Apart from Shola trees and Eucalyptus trees, there are a lot of Pine trees found across many parts of Kodaikanal. However, only two sites have become popular among the tourists as the travel destination. As there are two pine forests, the local people call them as Pine Forest 1 and Pine Forest 2. Pine Forest 2 is located near Moir Point.

Pine Forest 2 is generally not crowded like Pine Forest 1. It is unusual to find the vendors in this forest. The horse riding options are available here. Thus, this place is more attractive than Pine Forest 1.

This is definitely a lovely place which would mesmerize the tourists. It is said that the British Forest Officer H.D.Bryant planned and planted the pine trees across Kodaikanal in the early years of 20th century CE. If you go a little deep into the pine forest, you would find a lot of opportunities for photo shoot. A lot of South Indian films were shot in this location.

A visit to Kodaikanal without visiting Pine Forest is incomplete.

Happy travelling.
