After visiting Bryant Park, Coaker's Walk and Kodai lake and purchasing the so called home made chocolates, if you claim that you have visited Kodai, I am sorry; I would not agree. :-) There are lot more to visit in Kodaikanal. Let us talk about one such little known site called Vattakanal.

Before I talk about Vattakanal, a quick intro about Kodai...Kodaikanal, as you might know, is one of the most popular summer destinations of India. Thousands and thousands of travelers visit this popular hillstation named as 'Princess of hillstations'. It is located near Dindigul in Tamil Nadu state of India. After Ooty, it is the most visited hill resorts in Tamil Nadu state.

Vattakanal is a small village located at a distance of around 3 kms from Kodaikanal. Although it remains unknown to the regular travelers, it is sad that it has become infamously famous for bad reasons among youngsters. It is said that the youngsters stay in low cost lodges in Vattakanal mainly due to the availability of drugs here. As otherwise, the place is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. The route from Pambarpuram to Dolphin's Nose is through Vattakanal village. Vattakanal village has a waterfalls named Vattakanal Falls. People also call it as Pambar Falls. The water flow is good only during the rainy season. The waterfalls is situated in a scenic place.

Israels have this habit of sending youngsters to remote places on tour. You can find a lot of Israels travelling to Vattakanal. Some of them have made this as their home permanently. So, the locals call this village as 'Little Israel' too.

Go for a long walk amongst the forest to experience Vattakanal.

Happy travelling.
