If you are a Chennaite, who wants to visit the fabulous temple in Puri and if you couldn't go there, don't worry. You can visit the replica of Puri Jagannath temple in Chennai.

Jagannath temple was constructed in the year 2001 CE in the village named Kannathur (a suburb of Chennai) in ECR. To reach the temple, you have to take the opposite lane to Mayajaal, which is a a popular hangout place in Chennai. Jagannath temple is located in a calm, greeny, and shady area. The temple is built in the typical Kalinga temple architecture style.

The main deities of the temple are Lord Jagannath (Krishna), his brother Balram, and his sister Subhadra. The temple also houses the shrines for Lord Narasimha, Shiva, Ganesha, Gajalakshmi, Vimala and Navagraha. The most famous function of Puri temple is Rath (Chariot) Yatra, which is world famous. This Chennai temple also celebrates Rath yatra on the same day, when Puri's Rath yatra happens.

The temple also houses Pata Chitra paintings. Pata Chitra paintings are a kind of Oriya art, which can be found in the temples of Orissa.

Do go and visit this temple. If you plan properly, you can visit all the following places in ECR on the same day.
