Bangalore, officially known as Bengaluru, is the capital city of Karnataka state of India. It is called as the 'Silicon Valley of India' as all IT majors have presence in the city. Bangalore is known for its pleasant climate has a lot of tourist attractions which include parks, gardens, temples, etc. Let us discuss about an interesting and beautiful site called Cubbon Park in this article.



Cubbon Park is a well known park, which is located at the heart of Bangalore city. The park was inaugurated in 1870 CE. Originally, it covered an area of 100 acres. However, more acres of land was kept added to this garden and today this prominent tourist attraction of Bangalore has around 300 acres. 

It was originally named as Meade's Park. Then, it was renamed as Cubbon Park after the Commissioner of Mysore, Sir Mark Cubbon. In 1927 CE, it was again renamed as Sri Chamarajendra Park. However, the park is still famous as Cubbon Park.

The garden has thousands of species of flora and fauna. Some of the trees in this beautiful garden are more than 100 years old. In addition, the park also houses few historic buildings and the statues of famous personalities. This garden is definitely a site not to be missed in Bangalore, the city of gardens.
